🌿 Our Mission

At Sit N Shop, we believe that great things deserve a second chance - and so do great people. We're on a mission to make premium, pre-loved fashion, homeware, and collectibles accessible to everyone, while helping our sellers turn their unwanted items into real money, simply and sustainably.

We're not just a marketplace. We're a community built on trust, transparency, and the belief that conscious consumption can still feel luxurious. Every item listed with us has a story - and we're here to help it find its next chapter.

♻️ Our Consignment Service & Why It Matters

Life is expensive. We get it. Our consignment service was built with that reality in mind - giving people a genuinely easy way to unlock the value sitting in their wardrobes, homes, and collections without the hassle of selling it themselves.

You bring us the items. We handle the photography, listing, pricing, and shipping. When something sells, you get paid. It's that simple.

But beyond the financial benefit, there's something bigger at play. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world - and every pre-loved item that finds a new home is one less item heading to landfill. By choosing to consign or shop second-hand, our sellers and buyers are actively reducing waste, lowering their carbon footprint, and contributing to a more circular economy.

In tough economic times, Sit N Shop offers something rare: a way to do good for your wallet and the planet at the same time. Whether you're decluttering a wardrobe, downsizing a home, or simply making smarter choices about consumption, we're proud to be part of that journey with you.

👋 Meet Jack - The Person Behind Sit N Shop

👋 Meet Jack - The Person Behind Sit N Shop

Founder & Owner

Hi, I'm Jack, and I'm based on the sunny South-East coast of England in Portsmouth. I'm the founder, photographer, packer, shipper, marketer, and occasional beer-drinker behind Sit N Shop - and yes, I do all of that myself (for now!).

Sit N Shop was born from a belief I've held for a long time: that the way we consume clothing and goods doesn't have to be dictated by brands and their price tags. Why pay full retail for something when a barely-worn version exists for a fraction of the cost? It just never made sense to me. So I decided to do something about it.

I'll be honest - there was another reason too. I've always been someone who works best when I'm in charge of my own direction. I'm a little stubborn (my words, not anyone else's), and I have a very strong belief that a happy, energetic team produces the best results - even if the people above me in previous jobs didn't always see it that way. So rather than keep fighting that battle, I decided to build something my own way, on my own terms, and at my own hours. So far, so good.

Before Sit N Shop, I spent over five to six years selling on online marketplaces - racking up more than 4,000 sales and maintaining a perfect rating across every platform I've sold on. That experience taught me everything I know about what buyers want, how to present items well, and how to run a smooth, reliable operation from start to finish.

☀️ A Day in the Life

My day starts at 9am - messages first, always. I'll work through any offers or queries that came in overnight, then spend the morning packing and shipping orders, with a cut-off of 2pm to make sure everything goes out same-day. In between, I'm inspecting new items, taking photos, researching products, and listing everything across our marketplaces.

From there, I'm available for customers and clients right through until 8pm - then I switch off, which I've learned is just as important as everything else. Twice a week, I dedicate time purely to marketing: calls with potential consignment clients, running ads, and even popping leaflets into outgoing orders. And Sundays? That's sourcing day - charity shops, car boots, wholesale lots, and client buyouts. Every week is different, and I genuinely wouldn't have it any other way.

❤️ What Drives Me

I'll be upfront - I'm not actually a massive fashion person. What I am passionate about is making people money from things they'd otherwise throw away, and doing every single part of that process as well as it can possibly be done - from the photography, to the listing, to the moment it sells.

And that moment? There's nothing quite like it. The ping of a sale on my phone - whether it's one of my own items or a client's - still gives me a little rush every single time. Even dropping parcels at the post office is satisfying in a way I can't quite explain. It's the feeling of something completing its journey.

I've always believed that everything has a second life, and that the money a consignment client earns - whether they spend it treating themselves, saving for something special, or putting it towards a dream holiday - is money that genuinely makes a difference. Especially right now, when every bit counts.

🔭 Where We're Headed

Sit N Shop is still in its early days, and I'm proud of that. We're starting locally, building the service right here in Portsmouth, learning, improving, and making sure every part of the experience is as good as it can be before we grow.

The plan is to expand across the UK in phases, bringing the same premium, trustworthy consignment experience to sellers and buyers everywhere. Eventually, I want to bring people on board - build a team, grow the operation, and take on bigger clients. I love leading, I love teaching, and I'd love nothing more than to build a workplace that's genuinely brilliant to be part of.

The big dream? For Sit N Shop to be the name people think of when they want to sell their unwanted items with confidence, buy second-hand without compromise, and feel like they've been looked after every step of the way. We're not there yet - but we're working on it every single day.
